Kaine only lagged by a moment, and it was enough to catch the hints of the conversation, enough to know that Roland and the others could handle some dogs - they had thinned their numbers by a considerable amount as it was. Without an added word she grabbed Excalibur on her way and continued up the path.

It turned out that she was only gone for a moment or two at the absolute most. When she returned her sword was properly sheathed at her back again, but a large, clearly male body was slung over a shoulder that appeared to delicate to handle the weight. Kaine moved just fine, though, a blessing since there was a smaller body cradled in her opposing arm - Alice's.

"We need to get them inside." She tilted her head towards the shack, which wasn't nearly as swarmed over as when they had arrived. The remaining dogs, thinning with each bullet the gunslingers fired, had long shifted their attention.
